Forza Horizon 6 brings Japan to life with a massive, open-world map full of iconic roads and mountain passes. Two of the most famous mountains on the map are Mount Akina and Mount Fuji—but they serve very different purposes in the game.
Mount Akina (Mount Haruna)
Even though the game doesn’t officially call it “Akina,” the road layout is a faithful replica of Mount Haruna, the real-life inspiration for the Initial D series’ legendary Mount Akina.
Mount Fuji is a confirmed landmark that dominates the southern skyline, offering a completely different experience.
Forza Horizon 6 also includes several other legendary Japanese mountain routes:

Even though the game doesn’t officially call it “Akina,” the road layout is a faithful replica of Mount Haruna, the real-life inspiration for the Initial D series’ legendary Mount Akina.
- Location: Northeastern part of the map.
- Road Design: Tight hairpins, snaking descents, and challenging curves that mimic the classic touge mountain passes.
- Gameplay Focus: Perfect for technical drifting, downhill races, and high-precision driving. If you love mastering corners and perfecting drift lines, this is your go-to mountain.
Mount Fuji is a confirmed landmark that dominates the southern skyline, offering a completely different experience.
- Accessibility: You can drive around the base and explore long highways, scenic lakes, and countryside routes surrounding the mountain.
- Constraints: The summit is off-limits due to its cultural and UNESCO World Heritage status. The mountain serves mainly as a breathtaking visual anchor for the map’s southern region.
- Gameplay Focus: While it doesn’t provide the same technical drift challenges as Akina, it’s great for long drives, sightseeing, and open-road speed runs.
Forza Horizon 6 also includes several other legendary Japanese mountain routes:
- Irohazaka: Famous for extreme switchbacks and elevation changes.
- Hakone Nanamagari: Seven hairpins in the southwestern corner, ideal for tight drifting runs.
- Bandai-Azuma Skyline: Northern winding route with beautiful vistas.
- Japanese Alps: Permanent snow region with towering walls and alpine-style roads, similar to the real Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.
